Hello, oh men and women of fitness.
I hope everyone is doing well, as we move towards the end of February and towards March. The marathon season is in full swing. This weekend is the Cowtown Marathon; 3/15 is the Rock to Victory half; 4/5 is Big D; 04/26 is OKC. Wow, it's coming on us soooo quick.
Is anyone planning on running the Rock to Victory? If so, please let me know so that I can look for you on the road and I can design our runs if you want to run further. It appears that no one is gearing up for a full marathon, so, unless someone changes their mind and lets me know, I am going to send out updates for half marathons only through April.
That being said, Let's do 9 miles this week. We will meet at White Rock Lake, at the dog park on Mockingbird Lane at 7AM. We are going to do a full loop around the lake. Emily, email me with what you have done so far, since I've been out of pocket for the last few weeks.
Please respond with affirmatives, so I can look for you.

Well, we had ground hog's day.... again. Did Bob see his shadow? Will we have 6 more weeks of winter? (see 2/2/08)
We had a nice turn out at the DRC 15K. Bruce and Wendy ran it in 1:35. Chris ran at a blistering 1:19, Kathy also made an appearance. I was rather lackadaisical in my 1:44 pace. All in all, Team Journey looked good.
One of the goals of team journey is to take the gospel going forward. Robin has a wonderful idea for those who are interested. Robin and a group of people are interested in training for the Chicago Marathon on Oct 11th, and running for Team World Vision. This is a great way to support some runners, proclaim the gospel, and work with a great organization in helping with Watermark's mission in Africa. I would encourage each of you to take a look at the website. As we get details about who is running for world vision, I will forward you the info so you can support them.
This week, marathoners are going to run 13 miles. Half marathoners are going to run 10 miles. Let's all meet at Run on at 7AM. For the marathoners, we are going to mirror the White Rock half course, going down katy trial, through downtown, and up through uptown and highland park. There is not a lot of support once you leave katy trail, so please be sure to bring your own water, or a couple of bucks to buy Gatorade at a 7-11. Half Marathoners, you will run down katy trial to the AAC, then back to run on.

Saturday Run, 01/10
The holidays are over. I hope everyone survived the new years celebrations and is ready to start the new year. I have been very negligent on my training, since White Rock, and I need to get into the groove soon. Oklahoma City will be here sooner than we think. (http://www.okcmarathon.com). If anyone is training for the Big D half, or a different race, please let me know so I can tailor a training schedule for your goal race.
Next week, (1/17) is the too cold to hold. Team journey, and our new shirts, are looking forward to having a presence at the race. It is a 15K that runs around the lake. Please go to http://www.runontexas.com/TempPages/Events/toocold2009/TooCold2009.htm for details, and to register. This is also a good race to see where you're at and what pace group is a good fit for you. Or, it's just a good way to knock of some rust. A couple of us have run this race before, and we have thoroughly enjoyed it. I encourage everyone to sign up. FYI, the registration price goes up today (01/07).
This week, we will be running the sunny and beautiful katy trail. We will meet at run on at 7AM, and run to the trail from there. Since we have a couple of new people who will be joining us, don't confuse us with the Galloway training group, who also meets at Run On. We park on the very back row, near Jason's Deli. I will be there at 6:55. We pray at 7AM, before we hit the road at 7:05.
As Always, please email (lordguppy@gmail.com) affirmatives, so I know you are coming.

7 You were running a good race. Who cut in on you and kept you from obeying the truth?
8 That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.

Saturday 3/15
The spring running season is nigh upon us. Let's greet it at 7 am Saturday at the Dog Park parking lot. Some of us are going long but we'll figure out a way to stay with you short timers, too. Confirmations requested.
I thought I'd throw out a quick update on the upcoming races. This Saturday is the Dash Down Greenville St. Paddy's Day 5K. It's been a fun race in the past. If you decide to give it try just save a little for the third mile. The hills on Southwestern will eat your lunch. The crowds keep this one from being a PR race but also make it a fun race to do with friends. Not what I'd call a family race though - especially if you stay for the parade.
At the moment, we've got at least three commitments for the Oklahoma City Marathon at the end of April. James, Joel and I are signed up and committed. This will be Joel's first full marathon. Bruce is also considering throwing his hat in the ring for the full - I think he's almost convinced. In any case, it will be a good showing for Team Journey. If anyone is interested in making the trip, let me know and we can help you get set up.
Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:18.

Friends of Team Journey,
Lets meet again Saturday at 7 AM at the Dog Park lot south of Mockingbird near West Lawther. Depending on the distances everyone wants to run, we'll either run a lake loop or we can run an out-and-back on the White Rock trail for variety. We'll decide then and make sure everyone has someone to run with. We hope you can join us.
I do hope that everyone gets a chance to come out now that the weather is getting better. Also, don't forget that we spring forward on Sunday so we'll back to running to the sunrise at 7 soon.
For those of you that haven't run with us yet, I thought I'd try to give you a little taste of the seasoning we try to add to our conversations on the trail. Last week I thought we had a really good discussion about how Team Journey dovetails so well with the Wheel Illustration.
For those that aren't hip to the Wheel, its a simple picture tool that the Navigators use in their equipping ministry. (I'd attach a picture but I can't figure out how to do it - so I'll just have to describe it.) At the center of the wheel is CHRIST. There are 4 spokes each at 90 degrees. The two vertical spokes are PRAYER and THE WORD. The two horizontal spokes are WITNESSING and FELLOWSHIP. Around the rim of the wheel are the words "THE OBEDIENT CHRISTIAN IN ACTION." In Navigator terms, "The key to living a victorious, Spirit-filled Christian life is Jesus Christ as the Center and Lord of all we do. With Christ in control, life is balanced and effective. The Wheel illustrates this Christ-centered life."

The team aspects of Team Journey move us forward in witnessing and fellowship. And, if we incorporate prayer and scripture into our time running together, I feel like we can truly move the power of Christ into our lives.
And you thought you were just burnin' calories . . .
